This research examines the topic of women's empowerment and Islam and provides a framework for categorizing 103 influential women in the world based on their religious and non-religious impact in the years 2019-2022. The literature review will explore the discourse on women's empowerment and Islam from global, regional, and local perspectives, as well as the role of social media in supporting or censoring women's rights, achievements and to study the Islamic teachings in shaping women’s attitudes to social media and their use of it for empowerment. The goal of this study is to broaden the understanding of women's empowerment from a global, regional and local perspective and provide a foundation for future research on this topic. The literature review for this research was informed by online resources including academic journals and peer-reviewed articles. The methodology includes a table of influential women and their impact on the world in the last four years. Their impact is also categorized into religious or non-religious impact and divided by the region and reason for their recognition as “most influential”. The results show that the largest proportion of influential women in the dataset is from Asia, with Europe, North America, Africa, the Middle East, South America, and Oceania following in descending order. The fact that most women on the list exert non-religious influence underscores the necessity for enhancing the representation of women in religious arenas.
