This thesis deals with localizing a chapter of a book through transadaptation. The subject of this study is an English parenting book titled Hate me Now, Thank me Later by Dr. Robin Berman (2014). The book proposes practical methods of raising children and aims to improve the pedagogical methods that have been followed by parents with a view to helping parents be more sensitive to their children. It also assist parents to be more able to look at the related matters from the point of view of their children through following a more positive and assertive parenting approach. The author of the book avoids using the formal register that the reader has always been accustomed to when reading this genre of books. Instead, she employs a very informal and chatty register packed with metaphorical expressions in addition to the rhetorical style that an Arab reader may not accept, hence the need for transadaptation to be implemented to produce a target text that matches the expectations of the target readership (Arab caregivers). The aim of this thesis is to convey the practical concepts of the source text to the target readership by producing an Arabic text equivalent to the English text in terms of functionality. The thesis also aims at determining the importance of the translator's linguistic and cultural adequacies of both the target and the source languages. To transadapt the source text, Newmark's strategies were used to translate the source text's metaphorical expressions and cultural references to produce a target text that is equivalent in its function to the target text meeting the expectations of the target readership.
