This thesis belongs to the field of historical linguistics, and more specifically to dialectological studies. The purpose of this research is to act as a companion work to the Qatari heritage expressions electronic repository. It aims to build a corpus of Qatari traditional expressions. And it aims to examine the way different generations perceived or understood traditional expressions as well as the relation between the traditional expressions and the current Qatari language. To this end, data were collected from 8 interviews and online surveys. The findings showed that older Qatari people are more aware of the significance, use, and meaning of these traditional expressions. This research aims to contribute to building an application related to traditional natural language processing.
