This research study investigates the legacy of 2022 FIFA World Cup on labor in Qatar. To host a mega sports event like FIFA 2022 World Cup is a great moment for Qatar as the country is small in population and size, in transition and is rich in the reserves of natural gas. FIFA 2022 is an unique opportunity for hosting a universal event and for leaving a positive sustainable legacy for the country. However, the preparation, implementation and post-effects of these events are the challenging initiatives that have long-term significant impacts on the country’s society, economy as well as environment. This research addresses the role of labor in the legacy of FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, specifically from a policy and governance perspective. To fulfil the aim of this research documentary analysis is adopted. The results of documentary analysis indicate that the country has taken several initiatives that are helping it in developing more skilled labor for the future. Moreover, the issues related to the accusations that are presented for the host country can have a negative impact on both the FIFA organizer and Qatar. Therefore, it is important that the Qatari government takes significant initiatives for treating the workers and laborers better and provide them training that will improve their skill sets and will benefit the country in future. Moreover, it is also found that while there has been a positive change to the human rights regulations and labor regulations in the country, these need to be implemented properly because if the government will not be able to protect its labor, it might turn in to a scandal that would create negative legacies rather than the positive ones.
