Qatar's support for development and reconstruction projects and its efforts to promote peace and stability has contributed to progress on various goals, including reducing poverty, improving health and well-being, and promoting peace and justice. However, it is essential to note that Qatar's preventive diplomacy efforts are just one factor among many that contribute to progress on the SDGs. Qatar has been actively promoting and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations (UN) in 2015 to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. The country has implemented various initiatives and programs to support the achievement of the SDGs nationally and internationally. One key area where Qatar has been involved in preventive diplomacy is promoting peace and stability. Qatar has been leading in mediating and facilitating peace negotiations in various conflicts worldwide, including in Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, and many others. Qatar has contributed to achieving several SDGs by working to prevent and resolve disputes. This research seeks to answer the following question: How has Qatar's, Afghanistan's, and Chad's proactive diplomacy aided in pursuing the SDGs? We will do a literature review on preventative diplomacy, its role in Qatari foreign policy, and its relationship to the SDGs as a first step in offering a solution to this problem. Finally, we will review the research approach, including the data collection and analysis methods. The time frame for the research is 2000–2022. The study's findings will then be presented, along with any critical lessons learned and what they might imply for Qatar's attempts at preventative diplomacy. Finally, we will talk about the most important ramifications of this study for Qatar's foreign policy and the SDGs.

  • Main research Question: How have Qatar’s preventive diplomacy efforts contributed to the SDGs' advancement in Afghanistan and Chad?
  • Sub-research Question:
  1. How have Qatar’s preventive diplomacy efforts contributed to advancing the SDGs in Afghanistan?
  2. How have Qatar’s preventive diplomacy efforts contributed to advancing the SDGs in the Republic of Chad?
