This thesis study analyses the present landscape of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in Qatar and how it can be improved so that the sector can be established as job creating primary industries in the country. This is an information age and we are surrounded by technology and data is the new oil of the world. The research is based on primary as well as secondary data collection techniques to find the gap between current situation of ICT in Qatar and the possible future landscape. This thesis study also compares and contrasts the adoption and progress of ICT in few other countries (such as Singapore and Ireland) which are having similar geographical size or population as Qatar, and later on uses all these findings to provide recommendations on how ICT can be improved in Qatar. The study finds the gap between what is currently happening and what is required to do in Qatar as far as ICT is concerned. The study examines the current ICT scenario and the need for the same. The primary research was conducted through a survey which revealed that factors like ICT awareness, demographics and preferences, roadblocks, role of government in promoting ICT through universities and pushing the business sector to take up ICT related jobs are crucial. The main stakeholders of establishing ICT in Qatar are government, businesses and people. This thesis recommends an inclusive approach, the creation of ICT environment, identifying the focus area along with detailed implementation plan for the promotion of ICT in Qatar.
