OSRA Grant Cycle 2 Public Reports : Project Title: Parenting and youth in the Arab world: systematic synthesis of the evidence and knowledge gaps
This project addresses the critical role of parents in the development and well-being of children, adolescents, and young adults in the Arab world. Given the profound transitions taking place in the region, such as changing demographics, increased global media access, evolving family structures, and ongoing instability, it is imperative to investigate parenting's impact on youth well-being. However, limited knowledge on parenting practices and styles in Arab countries hinders our understanding of these changes. This systematic review synthesizes existing evidence on parenting in the Arab world, identifies gaps in research, and highlights the need for future investigations. The project's objectives include reviewing relevant research from the past two decades, compiling instruments for measuring parenting in the Arab context, and creating an evidence gap map to guide future research priorities within this evolving landscape. Additional goals involve identifying available databases and Arab researchers in this field.
