Towards a Novel Design Framework for Disruption Handling in Industry 4.0
This paper presents a novel framework to assist organizations with coping with a disruptive technology such as industry 4.0. This coping requires assessing and adjusting existing practices at both strategy and operation levels. The proposed framework features 4 components referred to as, goals and beliefs, associated with the strategy level, and, tasks and resources, associated with the operation level. The components are related to each other tracking who is doing what, using what, and working with whom. Each component is represented as a cycle along with the disruptions that could hinder the cycle's progress. The framework's technical doability is also discussed using a set of Petri Nets associated with its components. Although these Petri Nets are separate, they are interleaved when disruptions cross the strategy level to the operation level and vice-versa.
